2021 Wyoming Draw Opens January 4th, 2021

DRAW DEADLINE for NONRESIDENTS is February 1st, 2021

Are you looking at hunting Wyoming elk in 2021?  If so, you need to get your application in within the next few weeks!  The great state of Wyoming is an elk hunting destination that if not on your list of places to hunt, needs to be on your list of places to hunt.  With over 120,000 elk currently residing in the great state of Wyoming, it's nothing short of a great place for opportunity at harvesting a bull elk.  

Now that being said, it's going to take you 2-3 preference points to obtain a general season OTC (Over the Counter) tag there.  You may get lucky and draw with zero points, but the odds are not in your favor.  If you have 3-5 preference points you can get into some really good hunting opportunities.  5-10 now you're talking and 10+ you're really looking at a chance to possibly have the best elk hunt of your life.  You might just have to deal with a grizzly bear or two hovering over your tent at night while you're trying to get some shut-eye, but that's no big deal right?! Haha

Wyoming has 3 options for nonresident applicants.  You can apply with the "regular" draw, "special" draw or simply buy a preference point July 2nd to November 1st each year and start building points.  The regular draw is usually a chance for higher point holders to draw a tag that they've been waiting on for years at a regular priced tag of around $707+ fees.  The special tag costs almost $600 more, so a whopping $1283+ a few fees.  The special was meant to give those who were willing to pay a little more money a "better" chance at drawing a tag.  And while this is true in some units within the state, it's also turned into a place for guys with higher points trying to get a guaranteed tag this fall.  So the "special" option might not be so special anymore...
